HOW TO UPGRADE YOUR KITCHEN WITHOUT A COMPLETE REMODEL

Everyone wants an upgraded kitchen, but that can cost you a lot of time and money if you are planning to do a complete remodel.   If you don’t have the budget or would like to take small steps, you can still move toward getting the kitchen you have always dreamed of for a lot less! From painting your cabinetry to adding in some new decor, you’ll have that dream kitchen in no time!

Cabinets

Installing new cabinetry in your kitchen can be a pretty hefty bill when you are wanting to make upgrades. But did you know that with just a can of paint you can turn those cabinets into a whole new look?  Painting your dark wood cabinets white will create a more modern look and might even make your kitchen appear larger, lighter, and more inviting!

Painting your cabinets is something that you can easily DIY! It will be a labor of love, but it will be worth it when you can enjoy and entertain in your new kitchen.  You could also think about painting your bottom cabinets or center island a different color for a more modern and trendy look.

Small Appliances and Hardware

If you’re painting your cabinets, new pulls and knobs can go a long way toward creating a new look in your kitchen.  This is another cheaper alternative that will make your kitchen look great without having to gut your kitchen and replace everything.  You can also think about switching out your faucet for something a little more modern to match all your new pulls!

If you want a cheaper alternative to replacing all your pulls and knobs, you can remove your current ones and spray paint them for a completely different look!

Back Splash

Creating a new backsplash is an easy way to freshen up your kitchen. Be sure to choose a timeless material that will complement your cabinetry.  This is another project that is easy to DIY.  A lot of stores are even offering stick-on backsplashes that you can easily complete in just a few minutes.  This is a great option for someone who wants a quick fix or isn’t the best with a paintbrush!

Lighting

New lighting can change the entire look of your kitchen! Replacing any harsh, fluorescent light with softer yellow lights and purchasing new pendant lights for over your island will add a great touch!  You could also add in some strip-lights under your cabinetry for cooking and entertaining!

Decor

Now that you have all of the hard stuff done, it's time to decorate.  Adding in some new decorations can give your kitchen that look you have been dying for.  Try hanging your cutting boards on the wall.  This will create more countertop space and a reason to fill that empty wall!  You could also add in some container plants full of fresh herbs for easy access when you are cooking.

Remodeling your kitchen doesn’t have to be expensive or messy.  You can make small updates that will change the look of your kitchen! From painting cabinets to adding in a new backsplash or even updating your decor, you are one step closer to your dream kitchen!
